Disciplined in Sophisticated Defense and Insurance Litigation

An attorney at Butler, Benjamin D. Light practices in our Coverage Defense department.  Benjamin received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University in 1997 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the same institution in 2000 where he was a member of the Rutgers Law Review.

Benjamin was a judicial intern for the Honorable John E. Sprizzo, U.S.D.J. in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York during law school and thereafter began his career as an insurance coverage attorney with a large law firm in New Jersey.  His coverage experience includes property, professional liability, employers’ liability and environmental claims.

Benjamin has served as primary trial counsel in many matters, including a recent judicial discipline matter where he was retained to represent a sitting judge in removal proceedings.  He has extensive experience taking and defending complex depositions, conducting efficient motion practice and working with expert witnesses.  He has also successfully prosecuted several successful appellate matters.
