Disciplined in Sophisticated Defense and Insurance Litigation

A Partner at Butler, Gerald "Jerry" Albrecht practices in our Arson and Fraud, Coverage Defense, and Extra-Contractual departments. Since joining the firm in 1989, Jerry has served on the firm's Executive Committee and the Property Coverage department. He is admitted to practice in all three Federal District Courts in the State of Florida, as well as all state courts in Florida. He is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubble. Jerry has handled cases throughout the United States and most notably tried, and won, the Russian Roulette wrongful death case.

Jerry is a frequent speaker and panelist on property coverage and arson and fraud issues and has presented for various organizations such as the Defense Research Institute and the Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention.

Jerry is a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute and the Florida Bar. He is also a fellow of the American College of Coverage and Extra-contractual Counsel. He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Stetson University College of Law in 1986. As a student, he received the Victor O. Wehle Award for Outstanding Participation in Trial Practice and was a finalist in the American Bar Association Mock Trial Competition for the Southeast Region.

SIU Manager, Ryan West, was used to the smell. You know the smell. It is scorched. It is bitter. It is the seemingly everlasting and sticky odor of smoke.  He's at the fire scene to take a recorded statement of Belinda Peters. Her house burned last night. Burned as she started frying some chicken for dinner.  Her attention was diverted from the stove while she took a call from her aunt in the Netherlands. Her story, to the fire department, is that she left the stove unwatched, unattended, for a mere minute.
