Meijer Recalls Touch Point Fan Heaters

February 24, 2012

The link below is a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) announcing a recall of TouchPoint Forced Air Heaters. Specific model numbers for the recalled product are listed on the CPSC website. Meijer, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of TouchPoint Forced Air Heaters. Meijer has received one report of a unit’s base burning, melting and damaging the carpet beneath it. No injuries have been reported. The air heater’s exposed and unshielded electrical components can cause the unit to overheat and melt, posing a fire hazard. The involved TouchPoint fans were sold exclusively at Meijer stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio from September 2011 through November 2011.

This recall presents a potential avenue of recovery about which subrogation professionals should be aware when evaluating fires in residential and commercial losses.
