Ashley M. Mattingly is a Partner at Butler’s Tampa office and practices in the area of construction defect litigation. Ashley’s construction experience includes representing developers, contractors, and nearly every trade in the construction process, as well as suppliers of building components. Prior to joining the firm, Ashley served indigent Hillsborough County residents as an Assistant Public Defender for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit for four years. While at the Public Defender’s Office, Ashley worked in the juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony divisions before various county, juvenile, and circuit court judges in Hillsborough County, Florida and handled thousands of cases. Ashley also litigated over thirty trials during her time as an Assistant Public Defender.
Ashley earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminology, cum laude, from the University of South Florida in 2010. Ashley is also an alumna of the University of South Florida Judy Genshaft Honors College where Ashley completed a yearlong graduate thesis project during her senior year at the University of South Florida. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana in 2013. While at Valparaiso University, Ashley focused her studies on Litigation and Trial Advocacy while also serving as a member of the Valparaiso University Criminal Law Clinic and handled both misdemeanor and felony cases serving indigent clients in Porter County, Indiana as a certified legal intern. Ashley is licensed to practice in the state courts of Florida. Her professional memberships include the Florida Bar, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. Ashley regularly speaks to clients and peers on various construction and civil litigation topics at conferences throughout the United States. While she was born in St. Louis, Missouri, Ashley has lived most of her life in Florida and has been employed with Butler since January 2018.
