Black History Month – Jane Bolin

February 7, 2025

Jane Bolin was the first Black female judge in the United States. She broke barriers in 1939 when she was appointed to New York City’s Domestic Relations Court. Throughout her career, she championed racial justice, advocating for reforms in child welfare and challenging discriminatory practices in public institutions.

As we honor Black History Month, Jane Bolin’s legacy reminds us of the power of perseverance in breaking barriers and promoting justice.
